South Gippsland Water is a Victorian Water Corporation providing water and wastewater services to more than 22,000 customers across 22 towns within a service area exceeding 4,000 square kilometres. Guided by its 2040 Vision and Strategy, the organisation is focused on strengthening resilience, improving customer outcomes and modernising how services are delivered to a diverse regional community.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the General Manager Customer, Strategy and Technology provides executive leadership across a broad and influential portfolio including customer experience and billing, communications and community engagement, corporate strategy and performance reporting, economic regulation and price submissions, transformation planning, information technology including cybersecurity and SCADA and enterprise risk, audit and emergency management. The role leads a multi-disciplinary leadership group spanning Customer Experience, Strategy and Transformation, ICT and SCADA, Communications and Engagement and Risk.

This appointment comes at an important point in the organisation’s journey. A contemporary customer and billing system has recently gone live and the focus now shifts to embedding long-tail change, modernising established practices and realising improved customer experience outcomes enabled by the new platform. The role will also play a central part in corporate planning and in building organisational readiness for the next price submission, providing confidence and assurance at executive and Board level.

South Gippsland Water is seeking a strong people leader who can connect quickly with people, build cohesion across the executive table and contribute to a stable and high-performing leadership environment. While significant transformation initiatives have been delivered, the next phase is centred on embedding change and realising benefits, continuous improvement, capability uplift and operational maturity.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic and practical executive who can move comfortably between big-picture direction and hands-on delivery. You will bring strong customer orientation, commercial and regulatory awareness and the ability to lead modernisation across systems, process and culture. Experience in the water sector is well regarded but not essential. Experience leading change within an essential services or complex regulated environment, coupled with credibility in governance, risk and technology, will be highly valued. A willingness to make and implement difficult decisions while maintaining trust, momentum and organisational confidence is critical.
