W&Co Search is proud to partner with Lower Murray Water in the recruitment of the Manager Financial Planning and Performance.

The Opportunity

Lower Murray Water is entering an important period of financial planning and regulatory preparation as it approaches the next water price review cycle. This role offers the opportunity to step into a senior finance leadership position that will directly influence the organisation’s long term financial sustainability and strategic direction.

Reporting to the General Manager Business Services, the Manager Financial Planning and Performance will lead the organisation’s financial planning, regulatory reporting and pricing strategy. The role will shape the financial modelling, tariff development and regulatory submissions that underpin Lower Murray Water’s next pricing determination.

The Organisation

Lower Murray Water provides essential water services to communities, agriculture and industry across north west Victoria. The organisation operates across both urban and rural irrigation networks and services multiple districts with differing infrastructure and customer needs.

Operating within a complex regulatory framework, Lower Murray Water must balance financial sustainability, infrastructure investment and customer outcomes across both regional communities and agricultural economies.

The Role

This role sits at the centre of financial strategy and organisational planning. Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and operational and strategic leaders across the entire organisation, the Manager Financial Planning and Performance will guide the organisation’s budgeting, long term financial planning and regulatory reporting.

A key priority will be leading the financial components of the upcoming price review process including tariff modelling, operational expenditure planning and regulatory submissions to the Essential Services Commission. The role will also strengthen financial planning processes across the organisation and provide clear financial insight to the Executive and Board.

The Candidate

Lower Murray Water is seeking an experienced finance leader who is comfortable operating within complex and regulated environments.

Candidates may come from the water sector or from other regulated or asset intensive industries such as utilities, energy, infrastructure or government. What will be critical is the ability to translate financial data into strategic insight while building strong partnerships across the organisation.

The successful candidate will bring strong financial modelling capability, experience in organisational planning and the confidence to provide financial advice at executive and board level. CA or CPA qualifications are preferred although candidates with strong relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Why This Role Matters

The upcoming pricing review will shape Lower Murray Water’s financial settings for the next regulatory period. The Manager Financial Planning and Performance will play a central role in guiding that work and ensuring the organisation is positioned for long term financial sustainability while continuing to deliver essential services to the region.
