W&Co Search is proud to partner with Procurement Australia in the recruitment of the Chief Procurement Officer.
Procurement Australia is a nationally recognised member-based procurement organisation delivering compliant procurement solutions, strategic supplier partnerships and commercial value across Local Government, Health Care, Not-for-Profit, Education and Commercial sectors. With a significant national supplier network and more than $500 million in contract spend, Procurement Australia plays a critical role in helping members access efficient, commercially advantageous and trusted procurement solutions.
As the organisation continues through a significant period of transformation and growth, Procurement Australia is focused on strengthening its commercial capability, modernising operations and evolving into a more agile, data-led and strategically aligned business. This includes improving supplier engagement, expanding product and service offerings and enhancing the overall member experience across its national network.
Reporting directly to the recently appointed Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Procurement Officer is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and leads the Strategic Sourcing function nationally. The role carries responsibility for revenue growth, supplier rebate performance, gross margin optimisation and the ongoing evolution of Procurement Australia’s procurement and supplier engagement strategy.
Leading a team across 30 plus category areas in tendered solutions, partnered solutions, energy, travel and food, the Chief Procurement Officer will play a central role in shaping Procurement Australia’s future operating model, commercial frameworks and supplier strategy. The role will also contribute significantly to broader organisational transformation initiatives, including operational modernisation, digital uplift and future AI-enabled procurement capability.
This opportunity requires a commercially astute and strategically minded executive who can balance growth, governance, supplier management and operational leadership within a complex multi-sector environment. The successful candidate will bring strong experience across procurement, commercial leadership, supplier relationship management and transformation, ideally gained within a sophisticated B2B, infrastructure, utilities, procurement or member-based environment. Exposure to Local Government, Health Care, Not-for-Profit or related sectors will be highly regarded.
Procurement Australia is seeking a grounded and engaging leader who brings strong commercial acumen together with a low-ego, high-accountability leadership style. You will be capable of leading multidisciplinary teams, strengthening collaboration across business functions and creating a performance-oriented culture aligned to strategic growth objectives. The ability to build trusted supplier relationships, improve commercial alignment and leverage data, systems and emerging technology to support decision-making will be critical to success in the role.
This role will suit an experienced executive or an emerging enterprise leader looking for the opportunity to shape a nationally significant procurement and commercial function during a period of transformation, growth and future-focused change.
