As Council continues to balance community expectations, infrastructure investment and long-term financial sustainability, it is focused on strengthening organisational capability, financial stewardship and strategic decision-making across the organisation.

Reporting directly to the Director Sustainable Growth and working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Financial Officer will play a critical leadership role in shaping Council’s financial future and supporting the sustainable delivery of services, infrastructure and community outcomes.

This newly elevated leadership opportunity extends beyond traditional financial management responsibilities. The Chief Financial Officer will lead Council’s finance, revenue and procurement functions while driving a more contemporary, treasury-informed approach to financial management. The role will strengthen financial sustainability, optimise investment and funding strategies and enhance organisational capability through improved systems, reporting and governance frameworks.

A key priority will be supporting the long-term affordability and delivery of Council’s capital works program. Working closely with executive leaders across the organisation, the Chief Financial Officer will provide strategic financial modelling, investment analysis and evidence-based advice to guide major investment decisions, funding strategies and resource allocation.

The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in financial leadership within a complex organisational environment and demonstrate a strong track record in financial strategy, governance, reporting and organisational improvement. You will be comfortable operating as a trusted advisor to executive leaders and elected representatives while balancing strategic thinking with practical operational outcomes.

Council is seeking a contemporary and commercially astute leader who can build strong organisational partnerships, improve financial literacy across the business and drive continuous improvement across finance and procurement functions. Experience in treasury management, capital investment planning, financial sustainability and organisational transformation will be highly regarded. Exposure to Local Government or the broader public sector environment will be advantageous, however candidates from similarly complex and regulated sectors are encouraged to apply.

You will be a collaborative and engaging people leader who empowers teams, fosters accountability and contributes positively to organisational culture. Your ability to influence stakeholders, navigate complexity and support enterprise-wide decision-making will be critical to success in the role.
