W&Co Search is proud to partner with Hume City Council in the recruitment of the Coordinator Waste Operations.

Hume City Council is one of Victoria’s fastest growing and most culturally diverse municipalities, delivering services across a large and rapidly changing community. The Waste Operations unit plays an important role in maintaining city presentation and responding to highly visible community service needs.

Reporting to the Manager Sustainability, Climate and Waste, the Coordinator Waste Operations will lead a large depot-based team responsible for waste response, dumped rubbish removal, road and pavement sweeping, graffiti removal, trolley and charity bin impoundment and related field services.

This is a practical operational leadership role requiring a strong balance of service delivery experience, people leadership, safety focus and communication judgement. The successful candidate will work closely with supervisors, team leaders and field employees to ensure services are delivered safely, consistently and to a high standard.

The role will also support customer response, contractor coordination, performance monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement. There is an opportunity to contribute to key initiatives including dumped rubbish response, the Keep Hume Clean campaign, service mapping, data improvement and broader city presentation outcomes.

Hume City Council is seeking an experienced operational leader from waste, resource recovery, city presentation, civil maintenance, amenity, field services, regulatory operations, environmental services or a related operational environment.

You will bring the confidence to lead a large field-based workforce, set clear expectations and build trust through consistent and visible leadership. Strong communication skills will be important, particularly when supporting community-sensitive matters, councillor enquiries, service complaints and internal stakeholder engagement.

This role will suit a grounded, capable and hands-on leader who understands operational service delivery and is motivated by the opportunity to contribute to visible outcomes for the Hume community.
